Study, Work or Teach in Europe: the Erasmus Programme

Erasmus is an exchange programme that offers you the chance to spend between three and 12 months studying, working or teaching in Europe, as a fully recognised part of your degree course.

Many departments have Erasmus links and eligible students normally get an Erasmus grant to help with the additional costs of studying abroad. You do not have to pay any fees to the partner university, and if you spend a full academic year abroad, you currently do not have to pay any UK tuition fees for that year either. You will continue to receive any student grant or loan you are entitled to. Some of our partner universities run courses in English, so you may not need to speak a foreign language.

Most students say that their Erasmus placement was the most rewarding and enjoyable part of their degree.
