Eid Festival in the ParkSaturday 10 August 12–8pm, Millhouses Park, Abbeydale Rd South, S7 2QQ
On 10 August, the Sheffield Heritage Foundation will host a jam packed family fun day for the festival of Eid. The celebrations will include a fun fair, pony rides, bouncy castles, live performances as well as an "Eid Bazaar" including food stalls, arts & literature and clothing from around the world. Entrance is free and the event welcomes families and communities from all backgrounds. |

We have been made aware that there is a telephone scam targeting students. The caller informs the student that there is a problem with their original visa application and requests payment to solve the issue.

British humour
The British have a unique sense of humour. It is immersed within their everyday life and sometimes appears to be odd and baffling to students coming from different cultures where humour is more likely to occur within certain sets of context (or appropriate “time and places”). “The problem with the English”, as one American visitor complained, “is that you never know whether they are being serious or not.”Humour seems to be the “default mode” (as Kate Fox states in her book Watching the English) of the British. - Fiona, China
