Interactive Tier 4 (Students) Form Guidance

In order to assist you with completing your Tier 4 (General) 10/2009 application form we have created an interactive Tier 4 (students) form.

Aid to Full Entitlement

For courses longer than six months, leave should be granted on Code 2 to cover the duration of the course.

Dates for Visa Extension Scheme

The University of Sheffield Visa Extension Scheme operates on an appoinment system that allows students to choose a day and a time which is suitable to them from a list of options.

Extending Leave To Remain

Students needing to extend their Leave to Remain to continue with or complete full-time studies must apply to the Home Office in London.

Families

Can I bring my spouse and children to Britain? What is the procedure for dependants joining me in UK? Will my spouse be able to work in Britain? What documents should my dependants bring?

Leave of Absence

If you are in the UK and subject to immigration regulations YOUR LEAVE OF ABSENCE WILL NOT BE PROCESSED until you have spoken to a University immigration adviser.

Police Registration

Do you have to register with the Police? No if you are from the EU, EEA, Commonwealth countries. Yes if you are from certain other countries.

Travelling Abroad - Academic Visits To The USA

If you are a student on a degree/PhD course and need to go to the USA for University of Sheffield academic purposes, Student Support and Guidance staff will advise you on your application.

Travelling Abroad - Europe

The Schengen visa, which is valid for three months, allows you to visit EEA countries. If you want to visit only one Schengen Country you need to apply to the Embassy or Consulate of that Country.

Visa Correction Scheme

It is intended that students who were granted insufficient Leave after an application to the British Embassy/High Commission in their country will be given full Leave entitlement without further charge.

Visa Extension Scheme

The University is able to help students who need to extend their Leave to Remain by sending batches of applications to the UK Border Agency (UKBA).
