Focus Groups

"A focus group is a form of qualitative research in which a group of people are asked about their perceptions, opinions, beliefs and attitudes towards a product, service, concept, advertisement, idea, or packaging. Questions are asked in an interactive group setting where participants are free to talk with other group members. " Wikipedia

From time time we hold focus groups to help us understand in more detail what students want.

Previous Focus Groups:

December 2012: Improving Communications with Students

The first of a series of focus groups aimed at improving the way the University communicates with its students examining the effectiveness of channels such as email, web information, iSheffield, Social Media, Text Messaging, MOLE, MUSE, etc.

November 2012: Review of SSiD Brand

The focus of this session was students' perceptions of SSiD as a recognisable name and the services it is associated with; impressions of the appearance and presentation of the office and its staff; ideas about name, logo, colour brand.

June 2012: Improving the Referral Process

This session was, broadly speaking, about the experiences students have had and their perceptions about being referred by SSID to other sections of the University. It also touched on issues of student communication the location of SSID and the broader remit of SSiD in terms of support services.
