Liaison with Financial Sponsors

Local Education Authorities, Student Loans Company and NHS Student Grants Unit

It is normally the responsibility of the Student Services Department to liaise with `statutory´ sponsors (i.e. Local Education Authorities, the Student Loans Company and the NHS Student Grants Unit) and to respond to their requests for information on behalf of the University. Staff in academic departments are asked not to correspond direct with these agencies. Where an enquiry is received which cannot be dealt with using information held centrally, details of the query is sent to the relevant academic department/s for comment and a reply is sent from the Taught Programmes Office.

Students may ask for the official University stamp (or the signature of the `Registrar´) to be applied to various Local Education Authority (LEA) or Student Loans Company (SLC) application forms/certificates, etc. This service is provided at the Student Services Information Desk in the Students' Union building.

Tuition Fee Reductions/Refunds

Students who take leave of absence or who withdraw from the University may be eligible for a reduction or refund on their tuition fees. Whether a reduction or refund will be due or not, and how much, will depend on the timing/duration of the leave of absence or timing of the withdrawal. Advice can be sought from the Student Fees Office in Student Services.
