Academic Progress

Question: A student comes into the office to report that she is unhappy with her choice of modules in the first semester. It is the start of week 3 - she has been trying to persevere with a particular module but really doesn't want to continue with it and is worried about what options are open to her. What should I advise?

Question: One of my personal tutees wants to change their programme of study. What should they do?

Question: A student's father rings the departmental office and asks to speak to someone about his son's progress. He has been talking to the student on the phone and is concerned that he is falling behind with his work. The father explains that he is a lecturer in the same subject area at another institution and feels he would be able to give his son extra help if he knew more about his problems. I have all the information in the student's file at the side of my desk - should I tell him?
