Academic Profile

My background is Children and Families Social Work, largely child protection. I have been a social work practitioner and Senior Practitioner in Child Protection. I have managed multi-agency safeguarding training services for two local ACPCs/LSCBS. After gaining the Masters in Child Welfare and Child Protection from Huddersfield University, I worked for four years as a Senior Lecturer on the Social Work courses at Sheffield Hallam University. I have been with the Department, on a part time basis, since January 2011. I am currently a steering group member of the national body PIAT (Promoting Interagency Training). I also work on a freelance basis delivering multi-agency and single agency training on a number of topics, particularly Working with Hostile or Uncooperative Families and Hidden Men in child protection. I have been the independent author of a number of Serious Case Reviews.
