Open Days
Our students tell us they feel at home the moment they arrived here. The department is based in the University's newly refurbished Elmfield building which offers you a peaceful, picturesque learning environment. It is within walking distance of the multi-award winning Students Union, Sheffield city centre and a whole host of museums and parks.
Visiting us on an open day gives you the opportunity to experience our friendly learning environment and our sense of community. We take the experiences of our students seriously, and a staggering 89% of our students leave feeling satisfied with their degree.

"I have recently visited Sheffield University for an Undergraduate open day. When visiting your university I felt an instant sense of excitement as your department seems to offer everything I had hoped to find in a Sociology department.
The subject talk at Sheffield really inspired me to apply to your department to read Sociology as the course offered is so wide ranging and has so many options that interest me. The staff who spoke to us clearly love their subject and seem to really care about their students and how they are doing in their studies. Overall, I left my day at University of Sheffield confident that I should apply to your course."
