Current funded research

Staff in the Department are currently involved in the following research projects:

  • ‘SEAD’ project - Sex Education for Adults with Disabilities, their parents and staff, funded by the European Commission. Comprising nine partners from seven European countries (Belgium, Germany, Finland, Hungary, Lithuania, the Netherlands and the UK), the SEAD project aims to apply creative arts and drama to the area of sex education for people with intellectual disabilities. The project will develop a ‘tool kit’ and materials to encourage creative approaches to sex education with adults with intellectual disabilities.

    The project will explore children's views of green roofs and green spaces.

A five-year research programme funded by the Leverhulme Trust (2012-2017) looking at the challenges involved in making science more public; how are attempts to do so changing the relationship between science, politics and publics, and what are the normative implications for problems relating to political legitimacy, scientific authority and democratic participation?
