Research applications: Deadlines and when to apply

UK and EU applicants

The closing dates for applications is generally the end of March but enquiries are welcome at any time. (If you plan to apply for funding, please check the deadlines for applications on our Scholarships page.)

Overseas applicants

Applications are accepted at any time but we prefer candidates to begin their PhD programme in September. However, we realise sponsors may require a different timing and start dates may be arranged to fit within the requirements of the funding agency.
