Other experience / research interests
I originally hail form provincial civil service of Pakistan and had an opportunity to work in different departments like Social Welfare, Sports, Information, Culture and Youth Affairs, Home (Prisons and Police Wings).
I was selected for a scholarship under World Bank’s Program of capacity building of public sector officers in Pakistan. My MA in International Development was the result of that program which led me to a unique exposure.
During my masters in Manchester University, topic of my dissertation was Gender Reforms Action Plan. This project was launched by the government of Pakistan with technical assistance of Asian Development Bank in 2000 to bring about positive reforms in the areas of political participation, institutional structures and women employment in public sector.
There are a number of development projects initiated in Pakistan for the advancement of women in Pakistan. During my work in different departments, I used to have an access to these projects which in fact motivated and prompted me to dig deep into the area. Hence, I decided to enhance my academic pursuit by starting PhD in this area to view the various perspectives of the projects with particular focus to the situation of women in Pakistan.
