Thesis title / scope of research
My PhD thesis concerns the objects which older people choose to take with them on moving into residential accommodation. I am interested in how older people choose what to take with them, and how they use the possessions in the residential setting.

Other work / research interests
I am studying for my PhD part-time, and I am also currently working as a Postgraduate Research Administrator in the School of Health and Related Research, and as a Research Associate on a project investigating the experiences of bereaved informal carers (Universities of Sheffield and Warwick, funded by Dimbleby Cancer Care).
Previous research experience
- 2006: lead researcher on a Supporting People-funded project investigating the housing related support needs of Gypsies and Travellers in North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and York.
- 2005: research assistant on a project which investigated the professional challenges and career development strategies of female musicians in Newfoundland and Labrador.
- 2004 – 2005: research assistant on a project which investigated the experiences of international students at Memorial University of Newfoundland.
