Are you a non-UK registered nurse wanting to work in the UK?
Overseas Nurses Programme
We have over 15 years experience of working with Nurses and Midwives from various countries and cultures. The Overseas Nursing Programme will also provide opportunities to meet current practising Health Care Professionals.
It is compulsory for overseas nurses seeking to register with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) to do so through the Overseas Nurses Programme (ONP).
Under this programme all overseas-qualified nurses seeking to register with the NMC are required to undertake a twenty day period (approximately 150 hours) of protected learning time to familiarise themselves with UK healthcare practice. In addition, the NMC may also require that they undertake a period of supervised practice in a clinical setting which has been audited and quality assured by an education provider approved by the NMC.
The University of Sheffield programme
The University of Sheffield School of Nursing and Midwifery has been approved by the NMC to offer the ONP and will be offering the twenty-day protected learning component of the programme starting 28 July 2008.
Upon completion of the programme and registration with the NMC, there is a wide range of further study opportunities at the University of Sheffield. The University does not provide supervised clinical practice required by NMC. The programme is available to applicants who already meet the NMC practice requirements.
