The Course

The BMedSci is a three year full-time course with an elective placement in the final year and opportunities for postgraduate study. As a student in the Centre for Health & Social Care Studies and Service Development (within the School of Nursing and Midwifery) based at the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield, you would be part of a vibrant student community and work alongside healthcare practitioners. The course will develop a comprehensive understanding of the health service environment equipping you for a variety of rewarding careers in health and social care.

Career Options

The Health and Human Sciences degree provides a relevant qualification for direct entry into careers such as the healthcare professions, health care management, health research, community project coordination, patient advocacy and health education. For students wishing to take up training in nursing, midwifery or allied health professions such as occupational therapy, physiotherapy or speech therapy, it is an appropriate basis for applications to relevant postgraduate diploma or masters programmes.

Enquiries and Admissions

Entry to the course requires evidence of good academic ability, but there are no specific subject requirements at A level or equivalent. We do require English, Maths and Science GCSE; we take an individual approach to assessing relevant experience as well as formal qualifications and are always happy to discuss particular requirements and queries.
