Research and Training

The Institute is engaged in a wide range of multi-disciplinary research interets, has developed postgraduate teaching and training programmes in gerontology and delivers undergraduate teaching in geriatric medicine.

Research Assessment Exercise 2008

We are delighted to have been able to contribute to the University of Sheffield's successful submission in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise. Our group returned across multiple high ranking disciplines including Health Services Research (UoA 7), Nursing and Midwifery (UoA 11) and Social Work and Social Policy & Administration (UoA 40).

We continue to develop our contribution to our University's internationally recognised and world leading research profile through an active programme of interdisciplinary collaboration and research leadership including, amongst others; the Northern Universities (N8) initiative on ageing, the NIHR Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research for South Yorkshire, FUTURAGE (which aims to provide Europe with a world class agenda for ageing research) and the joint research councils' New Dynamics of Ageing research programme.
