Department Profiles supply summary data on the listed departments.Select a subject area and then a department from the drop down list. Student NumbersThese are the active student registrations for courses by each owning department (departments who administer a programme of study). The figures reflect the 1st of December and therefore do not include any student registrations that have withdrawn prior to that date. An active registered student is one who has completed a registration document, paid a fee (unless the fee has been waived by the University) and is actively participating on the programme of study at the 1st December. Students who have registered but have subsequently taken, for example 'Leave of Absence', are not included within the student numbers. Research students who are 'writing up' their theses are not using institutional resources and therefore do not appear in the profiles. 1st And Upper 2nd Class DegreesThis is based on undergraduate degrees awarded the previous July and December. (i.e. 2001-2002 data is based on degrees awarded in July 2001). Certificates and DiplomasThis is based on the number of certificates/diplomas awarded to sub degree students. Male/Female RatioThis is based on the total student FT and PT population of the department, however, where a department owns Distance Learning students, (PGT - PT) these are excluded from the ratio. Departments own web pageThis transfers you out of the ‘Facts and Figures Departmental Profiles’ facility, into the selected departments own web pages. Within a department’s page, additional of size and shape information including research activity and teaching quality results can be found. Use the browsers BACK button to return to the ‘Departmental Profiles’.
