Postgraduate Taught Courses

We offer a wide range of taught programmes that closely reflect the research and teaching expertise of SEAS staff while offering considerable flexibility of choice.

Our MA and MSc programmes are full-time, 12-month programmes, while the shorter programmes, including postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates, are also available in most degree areas.

Teaching

Teaching is conducted through lectures, seminars and problem-solving classes. In teaching language and non-language subjects, there is a strong emphasis on small group teaching, combined with independent study to enhance skills.

Assessment

Assessment methods are varied. For non-language subjects these include research essays, written examinations, and individual or group seminar presentations; languages are assessed by written examinations and continuous assessment – both of in-class activity and of individual assignments.
