Distance Learning Centre
The Distance Learning Centre was established in 1995 to develop distance-learning versions of the School of East Asian Studies' prestigious postgraduate degrees, however, the University has decided to accept no new enrolments onto the School’s distance learning programmes after April 2009, and to undertake a phased withdrawal from its distance learning activity. This decision has not been taken lightly and is based on financial grounds, taking into account the sharp decline in the market for our courses as well as increasing economic constraints on universities in the UK. It in no way reflects a lack of dedication from those involved in teaching and running the programmes or the commitment and quality of our students. The University is fully committed to supporting all students currently enrolled on the DL degrees right through to graduation.
All those who have given so much to the DL programmes over the years, staff and students alike, feel a great sadness in contemplating DL coming to an end, however, we would also like to express our thanks to everyone who has worked so hard, and contributed so much, to making DL the rewarding and innovative experience it has been over the past fifteen years.
