Current Students

Students from the University of Sheffield are an important asset to our outreach and recruitment activities. Their input often makes a huge impact in terms of promoting pathways into Higher Education, providing insights to student life, and signposting applicants to our undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
Our students are integral to the outreach work that we undertake across our region, as well as playing key roles at our open days, post-application visit days, and campus visits by school and community groups.
A number of Ambassadors are offered additional training to provide campus tours or to represent the University at careers events in schools.

The Student Ambassador Role
The Student Ambassador role comes with many responsibilities. As well as providing valuable work experience for your CV, it offers the rewards of working with people of all ages and from all backgrounds to help them to make informed choices on the subjects they pursue at school and the degree courses they eventually target.
These are roles that are paid in line with the terms and conditions of the University of Sheffield's Summary of the University Bank Agreement. We ask that all Ambassadors familiarize themselves with this document, as well as the Protocol for Managing the Dual Relationship of University of Sheffield students who work at the University.

Skills for Work Certificate and the Sheffield Graduate Award
The Skills for Work Certificate is open to all current students at the University of Sheffield and is designed to help you use your experience gained from work to demonstrate to future employers that you have the necessary skills to function in the workplace. It will also help you to learn more about yourself and your career options and can count towards the Sheffield Graduate Award.
What's more, the hours that you work as a Student Ambassador can count towards the number of hours needed between the start and end dates of the programme (currently a minimum of 50 hours). For more information of both the Skills for Work Certificate and the Sheffield Graduate Award, please click on the links below.

Higher Education Achievement Report
The role of Student Ambassador should be personally rewarding, as well as being one which will enhance your CV by demonstrating key employability skills. It is one of many extra-curricular activities and awards that the University can include in your Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR) - a new and comprehensive record of your university achievements, which recognises extra-curricular achievement as well as academic learning. You can use your HEAR to help you identify and reflect on the strengths and skills you are developing, and to provide employers and others with evidence of your university learning and experiences.
