Biography

I have a variety of research interests broadly in the areas of health inequalities and public health evidence synthesis. Methods including: literature reviewing and critical appraisal, questionnaire design, semi-structured interviewing (telephone and face to face), quantitative and qualitative data analysis and interpretation, case studies, action research methods, writing for publication, and conference presentations.

I am currently working primarily as a lead reviewer on the NICE PHCC team. At present I am working on assessment of evidence to inform Public Health Intervention Guidance on Wellbeing of 0-4 year olds I have also recently completed an evidence assessment to inform Public Health Programme Guidance relating to the NHS provision of contraceptive services for socially disadvantaged young people (up to the age of 25). and previously Intervention Guidance on universal interventions which aim to promote emotional and social wellbeing in secondary schools.

I am Fellowships and Studentships Officer for the ScHARR Postgraduate Research Committee (PGRC). This role has the remit of developing and supporting postgraduate research opportunities within the department, with particular objectives to: increase the number of quality postgraduate research students in ScHARR, and to take a proactive approach to attracting students and generating studentships in ScHARR.
