Research Interests

Patient attitudes to screening

Jane is currently working in an exploration of issues associated with introducing diabetes screening into general practice. This includes an exploration of patients' attitudes towards attending screening and completing the follow-up pathway for those with positive results.

Qualitative methods and exploring motivation

Jane is interested in complementary use of qualitative and quantitative methods in health settings and also in social enquiry where this impacts on health inequalities. She maintains an interest in qualitative methods as a tool for examining personal motivation and attitudes, as well as in ethics, the provision and use of information.

Student supervision

She has supervised students in research projects, especially where qualitative methods are employed.
