Biography
I am Director of Public Health for Wakefield District in West Yorkshire and hold an Honorary Clinical Lecturer appointment at ScHARR.
I trained in general practice before working for a number of years in Nepal, latterly with the UK Department for International Development and the Government of Nepal.
On my return to the UK I trained in public health including a period as Clinical Lecturer at ScHARR.

I teach on the MPH course.
Professional Activities
I am a member of the editorial group for Public Health Today. I have peer reviewed for a number of journals including The Lancet, The International Journal of Tuberculosis and Lung Disease, PLoS Medicine, BMC Public Health and the Indian Journal of Medical Research.
I have reviewed research funding applications for a number of agencies including the National Institute for Health Research and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council.
