Biography
I graduated in psychology at Swansea University in 1998. I went on to complete a Masters degree in psychogical research methods at the University of Exeter in 2000, in which I specialised in animal behaviour and welfare. I was then offered a research position with the BBSRC where I worked for two years on projects investigating avian behaviour and welfare.
In 2003, I returned to Swansea University, joining the health economics team in the School of Health Science.
During this time I also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Economics via distance learning from the Social and Public Health Economics Research Group at Curtin University, Australia.
Research Interests
My research work has included projects evaluating the costs and benefits of home care for patients with severe haematological conditions and assessing the impact of upper GI adverse events on patient quality of life.
Current projects
In October 2006, I was awarded an ESRC PhD studentship based in Public Health and Health Economics and Decision Science at ScHARR.
The topic of my research is to investigate the socio-economic determinants of health inequalities in ethnic minority communities. In particular I hope to adopt a multidisciplinary approach encompassing aspects of public health and health economics and to employ a mixed methods design.
