Biography

I joined the University of Sheffield in 2005, working in the department of Public Health in the theme of public involvement in research.
Between 2006 and 2009 I completed my doctoral studies in the area of public involvement in cancer research. This study explored the relationships between lay and professional voices in the research process, using ethnographic research methods.

I am currently working in the Tele-health and Care Technologies (TaCT) Theme of the South Yorkshire Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care (CLAHRC). My research within this theme includes public involvement and engagement with tele-health and telecare innovations and research and a randomised controlled trial of tele-health for individuals with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

Research Interests

My research interests include experiences of chronic illness, service user needs, the relationships between patients and professionals and public involvement in research.

Teaching Interests

I teach ethnography on the Qualitative Research Design and Analysis (HAR 6531) module. I also teach on the Community Attachment Scheme for first year medical students and provide training in public involvement in research.
