Title of Research
The development of a remotely supported self-managed exercise intervention using available information and communication technologies (ICTs) for functional physical recovery post-stroke

Biography
I am a registered physiotherapist in Hong Kong after completing my bachelor degree (honours) in physiotherapy from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. I am also an accredited acupuncture physiotherapist in Hong Kong. Then, I received my professional title of APA-Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist from the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) with my master degree of physiotherapy (Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy) from the University of Melbourne in Australia. I am also a qualified personal trainer by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and a qualified group leader of the Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP) by the Stanford Patient Education Research Center in the School of Medicine at the Stanford University in the USA.
I am clinically experienced in providing functional physical rehabilitation in musculoskeletal, sport and neurological areas and community-based rehabilitation in Hong Kong, China and Australia.
I joined ScHARR at the University of Sheffield for my postgraduate research studies in 2011. Prior to join ScHARR, I based in Sichuan province of the mainland China to work as the Team Leader and physiotherapist (Grade 1) of a post-disaster Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) project for a World Health Organisation (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Rehabilitation during 2009-2011, which was funded by the Hong Kong Government. I established and managed a CBR resources centre and branches and a team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, rehabilitation therapists and social workers, to provide healthcare and social services to earthquake injured and their families, professional consultancy and clinical supervision, and healthcare trainings to local healthcare and social care professionals, government officials and non-government organizations in various earthquake zones of Sichuan.
Research Interests
I am interested in the research of self-management for chronic conditions, functional physical rehabilitation, community-based rehabilitation services, technology and rehabilitation, and the application of technologies, especially information and communication technologies to deliver healthcare and rehabilitation services for long-term health conditions, including for stroke.

• Member of Medical Sub-committee of the Hong Kong Paralympics Committee & Sports Association for the Physically Disabled
• Team physiotherapist for the disabled elite athletes of the Hong Kong Paralympics team
• Member of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Australia (MPA) of APA
• Rehabilitation Consultant of a Sichuan earthquake project of Department of Applied Social Sciences, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
Current project
I am doing my postgraduate research studies in the health service research section of School of Health and Related Research at the University of Sheffield since 2011. My study is to develop a novel self-managed exercise intervention using ICTs for functional physical rehabilitation of stroke survivors.
This project is funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care, South Yorkshire (CLAHRC SY).
