Biography
I joined ScHARR as a systematic reviewer in December 2010, having previously worked on a number of health-related research projects. After completing my Masters degree I worked in the Department of Health Care Education at the University of Liverpool on a range of projects exploring multidisciplinary teamwork in health care. Subsequent research focused on risk communication for health behaviours, lay conceptualisations of occupational disease (University of Nottingham), health considerations of older construction workers (University of Loughborough), and inclusive antenatal care for parents with a learning disability (MENCAP). I recently completed my PhD in health psychology, exploring the role of usability, usefulness and frame in persuasive health communication.
Research interests
My research interests are judgements and decision-making for health behaviours, risk communication, health in older construction workers, multidisciplinary teamwork in the health services, antenatal/postnatal care for parents with learning disabilities.
My Teaching Interests
My teaching interests lie in Systematic Reviews and Critical Appraisal, specifically data extraction, quality assessment and meta-analysis.
Current projects
- Clinical and cost-effectiveness of managing varicose veins
- Clinical and cost-effectiveness of diagnostic strategies for suspected acute coronary syndrome (ACS)
