On Monday 10 September 2012, Sir Iain Chalmers, Coordinator at the James Lind Initiative, delivered the second of ScHARR's Pemberton Lectures, on the subject "People should be angry about the extent to which their money is being wasted by the research community". The event, which was very sucessful, was attended by around 190 people. The lecture was followed by a question and answer session and an enjoyable wine reception.

On Wednesday 7 September 2011, Professor Sir Michael Rawlins, Chairman of the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) delivered the first of ScHARR's Pemberton Lectures, on the subject of "NICE, Past, Present and Future". The event, which was very sucessful, was attended by about 250 people. The lecture was followed by a lively question and answer session and an enjoyable wine reception.
