PhD Studentship – Department of Health Policy Research Unit in Economic Evaluation of Health and Care Interventions (EEPRU) Studentship

We are offering a 3 year PhD studentship to be based in a Department of Health funded Policy Research Unit in Economic Evaluation located in the School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR) at the University of Sheffield. We welcome applications to undertake methodological research in the areas of: innovation; outcome measurement in health and social care; measuring and valuing inter-sectoral effects for economic evaluation; social value of a QALY.

The successful candidate will receive expert support from an academic supervisory team drawn from the Unit and will be supervised by Professor John Brazier and Dr Donna Rowen in ScHARR.

The studentship will include home/EU tuition fees plus an annual maintenance grant (currently £13,590 for 2011/2012). In addition there is an annual Research Training Support Grant of £750 to cover conference attendance, training courses, equipment and books.

Applicants will need to ensure that they meet the entry requirements of the PhD in ScHARR.

Applicants will be expected to develop and submit a high quality outline of their proposed PhD study (3-5 pages) which is in line with the focus of the research themes of EEPRU as described above along with a CV to the Postgraduate Research Administrator

Closing date for applications: Monday 7th May 2012 at 5pm. Interviews for short-listed candidates are expected to take place within 2-3 weeks of that date.

Latest date for commencing PhD: 1st January 2013.

Funded PhDs for NHS staff

A number of free places are available to staff who work for the NHS in the Yorkshire and Humber and East Midlands Regions or NHS East Midlands. These places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
