To understand the barriers, constraints and enablers that can result in
the successful implementation of research.
2. Learning Objectives
At the end of this section, you should be able to:
- Define the essential components of Roger's theories regarding
diffusion of innovations.
- Identify the major variables involved in the implementation of a
successful change scenario.
- Identify the main phases in the implementation of clinical change and
consider problems arising at each and how they may be overcome
- Describe the characteristics of major players in the context of
change such as innovators, laggards and opinion leaders.
- Describe major initiatives and resources supporting implementation
and change in a health service setting.
