Czech: Level 1 structure

In your first year, you´ll get an intensive introduction to Czech grammar, and learn essential communicative skills in conversation classes with a native speaker of Czech. You'll also be able to use our own interactive online exercises to help you consolidate your learning.

By the end of the year, you´ll have covered all the basic grammar and skills necessary to get around in the Czech Republic.

Parallel to this, you´ll be introduced to Czech history through a programme of lectures and seminars. Our first-year history course is based on enquiry and exploration, so you´ll be reading and looking at translations of original texts and documents from various historical periods to learn about them, and making presentations in seminars which will form part of the course web page.

By the end of the year, you´ll have covered the history of the Czech lands from the middle ages to the present, and will be familiar with many of the events and trends that have shaped the Czech nation and its people.
