Biography

I have taught in the Department since 1988.

After leaving school I worked for a time as a council parks gardener (allegedly Derbyshire's first female municipal gardener, after the passing of gender equality law), before training as a tri-lingual secretary, using German and French.

I worked for various employers, including the BBC in Bristol as a production assistant for network TV programmes, and as personal assistant to the Manager of the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.

When I was 26 Sheffield City Council gave me a discretionary grant to study for a degree, and I have been here ever since!
