We welcome research proposals related to all areas in which our staff have expertise. The department has two research 'clusters':

Recent and current projects include:
- Russian philosophy of culture and language in the 1920s: Institutional and theoretical dynamics.
- Soviet artist Aleksandr Laktionov and popular taste.
- Aleksandr Blok's lyric trilogy.
- The Bakhtin Circle and Soviet psychological thought.
- Accommodation and dialect maintenance in the speech of Moravian students living in Prague.
- Changes in Czech vocabulary against the background of socio-political changes from the 1980s to the present.
- Reception of Russian dissident and emigré literature in Polish underground publishing 1976-1989.
- Representations of masculinity in postwar Soviet art.
