Postgraduate courses: Financial information
The University's 2011-12 deadlines for applications for postgraduate scholarships have now been announced.
Funding applications for PhD scholarships deadline: 28 January 2011.
For the range of available funding schemes to support your studies (including Faculty awards, University Prize scholarships, AHRC allocation) and details of how to apply please follow this link.
Applicants for all these awards must also apply to study in the Department
before the relevant funding deadline.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact the department to discuss their proposal in advance of the deadline.
Any enquiries regarding these awards and Postgraduate study in the Department
of Russian and Slavonic Studies should be addressed to Professor Susan E Reid.
PhD research in the culture of the Caucasus
We now invite applications for a fully-funded PhD opportunity for research dedicated to the folklore and literature of the Caucasus region.
Proposals may pertain to the folklore and literature itself, the history of scholarship on the question, and the role they have played in the formation of social and cultural identity.
Fluency in Russian language is essential, and knowledge of one Caucasian language would be an advantage.
The scholarship includes all University fees, a grant for living expenses and funds for approved research expenses. For more information please contact Professor Susan E Reid.
Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) funding
The Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) has awarded the University of Sheffield a number of studentships in specified subject areas and for specified schemes (Research Preparation Masters, Professional Preparation Masters and Doctoral). AHRC funded studentships are now available through the AHRC Block Grant Partnership (BGP).
Through the BGP, the University is now awarding studentships to prospective postgraduate students, on a competitive basis and subject to AHRC approval. EU nationals accepted to study on programmes and in subject areas for which BGP studentships have been allocated will be eligible for nomination to AHRC.
Please note that in order to be considered for an AHRC studentship, you must first apply to the University for admission to an appropriate programme of study.
For further details, including the full range of subject areas covered by the University's BGP allocation, please follow the link below.
