Our KTA SchemeKnowledge transfer between Universities and their external partners is the process of harnessing technology, know-how and skills in order to develop innovative new products and processes. It is a vitally important process, and key to its success is the University and industry working flexibly and in partnership. Innovation is a significant driving force of economic growth, social development and job creation. EPSRC Knowledge Transfer AccountsThe Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) awarded twelve Knowledge Transfer Accounts (KTAs) to UK Universities. KTAs aimed to overcome barriers to collaboration between universities and other public and private sector organisations, and to ensure that the outputs of EPSRC research deliver the maximum economic and societal benefit to the UK. EPSRC is the largest research council in the UK, investing millions of pounds into research and training each year. The University of Sheffield has secured a £5.7M EPSRC Knowledge Transfer Account, and we have developed a number of innovative KTA activities which stimulate collaborative working and partnerships between the University and industry.
