Information for Staff & for Postgraduate Research Students
If you are unsure whether your proposed research project requires ethics approval and/or, if it does, unsure which ethics review procedure applies then please consult the Applicant Checklist on the right.
There are three potential ethics review procedures: 1. University; 2. NHS; 3. Alternative. To find out more about each procedure click on the link 'Research Ethics Procedure' on the right.
The University's model forms, for use if the University research ethics review procedure applies, can be accessed by clicking on the link 'Model University Forms' on the right.
Useful links to guidance available on this website are also provided on the right: 1) The Ethics Reviewer's Perspective [in writing your research ethics application it can be helpful to consider the perspective of the ethics reviewer and the evidence s/he is looking for in an application]
2) Fact-sheets: Safety & Well-being; Consent; Anonymity & Confidentiality [in writing your research ethics application you should consider how your research will address these core issues - these fact-sheets provide useful guidance on each issue] 3) Miscellaneous guidance [you may find guidance here that is specifically relevant to your proposed research - e.g. there is a guidance fact-sheet on conducting internet-based research]
