The Careers in Research Online Survey 2013
We wanted you to share your experiences of being a member of research staff at the University of Sheffield. HEIs across the UK participated in the Careers in Research Online Survey (CROS) – a national survey for research staff. Your responses to this survey are crucial in helping us to understand what we are doing well and what we can do better to improve the working conditions, career aspirations and professional development opportunities for research staff at the University.
What is CROS?
CROS is aimed at members of staff who are employed primarily to conduct research and have no formal staff management/supervision responsibilities.
The online questionnaire reflects the principles of the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers and takes around 20 minutes to complete. All responses are anonymous and cannot be traced back to individuals.
Participation
Your input into the survey is highly valued. The more staff completing the survey, the greater the accuracy in representing the views and opinions of research staff at the University of Sheffield. The University can then respond in ways which will have a positive impact and provide better support to our research staff. The survey closed on Monday 6th May 2013 and we reached a participation rate of 28.8%.
What happens to the results?
The views of research staff at the University of Sheffield are compared with those in other institutions across the country, informing us what is working well and where improvements can be made. The results of the CROS survey will be an integral part of the process used to inform and influence decision making and monitor developments and initiatives relating to the employment, training and career development of research staff at the University of Sheffield.
A report on the findings of CROS 2013 will be available on these web pages once analysis has concluded.
