RESS launch event a success

June 2012

We held a launch event on the 15th June to introduce our new team and to promote our activities.

The event was well attended by University of Sheffield academics, managers and Knowledge Exchange professionals, and it featured some case study examples of our work with external stakeholders, academics and Doctoral students.

New name and website for RESS

May 2012

The Research Exchange is officially launched, to coincide with our new expanded team of researchers. Under our old name of the PSA we have offered research exchange services since 2006. In the next three years we will be developing and deepening our links with organisations in South Yorkshire, nationally and internationally.


Deprivation mapping finds Sheffield a more equal city than most
March 2012

Concentrations of poverty and deprivation in Sheffield have been mapped for the first time by a University of Sheffield researcher using sophisticated analysis tools. The study found the city suffers fewer extremes of poverty and wealth than others in England but the geographical divide between rich and poor is more stark than elsewhere. The study by Dr Alasdair Rae was commissioned by the university’s Research Exchange for the Faculty of Social Sciences in partnership with Sheffield City Council. It will contribute to Sheffield’s fairness commission which is currently beginning work. Read more


Research Exchange team joins European gang violence study
February 2012

A team from the Research Exchange has landed a prestigious European contract to study gang violence in the UK.

The contract was awarded by the European Union’s research funding body which promotes studies of international quality. The team will spend a year working on the research, which is titled ITACA - Interactions Towards A Common Answer. Read more
