Welcome to the Department of Pure Mathematics, one of the three departments in the School of Mathematics and Statistics.
Our mission is to teach useful, interesting and relevant mathematics, and to extend the subject through our research. We have active research groups in Number Theory, Commutative Algebra, Algebraic Topology, Differential Geometry and Ring Theory.
We participate in many dual degree programmes (for example, with Management, with Philosophy, or with Astronomy) as well as undergraduate exchange programs with universities in Europe, the United States and elsewhere.
