The University of Sheffield has invested £1.5 million in a new state of the art pre-clinical 7 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) facility. MRI uses the magnetic resonance properties of nuclei within a subject to allow direct visualization of internal structures with high spatial resolution. Research projects at the University of Sheffield involving MRI cover a broad range of topics; everything from functional MRI, to cardiac MRI and pre-clinical spectroscopy. The technique really does cross the boundaries between the sciences.
