About the course

1 year full time

You can choose from social science modules and Japanese language options. This is a highly flexible course. It can be used to refine your existing skills or as an introduction to the subject.

Entry requirements

You'll need a good first degree in any subject. You don't need prior knowledge of an East Asian language. If you don't have a degree but you have experience of East Asia, we'll consider your application.

Native speakers of Japanese are welcome to apply but you won't be able to take the optional language modules.

English language requirements

IELTS 6.5 overall with 6.5 in the written component, TOEFL 91 (IBT).

Options

You can study a shorter programme on our courses for a Postgraduate Certificate (4 months, 60 credits) or Postgraduate Diploma (9 months, 120 credits). You'll need 180 credits to achieve a masters degree, getting 60 credits from your extended project.
