About the course

1 year full time

This flexible course allows you to explore advanced topics in pure and applied mathematics. Get hands-on research experience through writing a dissertation under the guidance of a research-active supervisor.

The programme is a development of our MSc in Statistics and the final year of the MMath in Mathematics, both of which have been running successfully for many years.

Entry requirements

Minimum 2:1 honours degree with substantial mathematical components from a three or four year course at a UK university or any comparable qualification of equivalent standard.

English language requirements

IELTS 6.5 (with no less than 5.5 in each part), or equivalent.

Learning environment

The school of Mathematics and Statistics is based in the very centre of the University campus, close to the Students' Union and the main library and computing facilities. You will have access to a wide selection of postgraduate texts and a number of leading journals in both pure and applied mathematics. You will also have access to study space in an open plan office with other postgraduate students.
