Chia-Yu Chou - MSc Stem Cell Regenerative Medicine, Biomedical Science

Where your masters can take you

Over half of our MSc graduates go on to doctoral study, some here at Sheffield. Your degree will also prepare you for a career in research in academia or industry, or in a clinical-related field.

Demand for graduates with skills in stem cell and regenerative medicine is increasing rapidly. Our courses give you the edge you need to succeed in a global careers market.

How you benefit from our expertise

Sheffield is ranked third in the UK for research in biological sciences, which means much of our work is internationally recognised or excellent. Our reputation attracts staff and students from around the world, making this a vibrant place to study.

Regular seminars from distinguished international experts help you to connect your studies to the latest developments. We're also part of collaborative research groups for developmental biology, cell biology, physiology, pharmacology, neuroscience, models of human disease, stem cell science and regenerative medicine.

Our two research centres focus on translating laboratory research to the clinical environment – the MRC Centre for Developmental and Biomedical Genetics and the Centre for Stem Cell Biology. All our teaching is drawn from our pioneering research.

Our courses give you the edge you need to succeed in a global careers market.

Labs and equipment

You also benefit from our modern research space. This includes purpose-built facilities for drosophila, zebrafish, chick and mouse genetics and for molecular physiology.

Other facilities provide all the tools you'll need to examine and analyse a range of cellular structures. We have an electron and a light microscopy centre, a PCR robotics facility, a flow cytometry unit and an RNAi screening facility.
