About the course

1 year full time

Develop your understanding of dental public health and the major oral health problems faced by a community. You'll learn how to critically analyse dental public health problems and develop practical solutions to protect and promote oral health.

Entry requirements

The course is suitable if you have a dental or other health-related background. You need a recognised dental degree, a 2:1 honours degree, or a relevant professional qualification with at least one year's experience.

English language requirements for overseas students

IELTS 7.0 (with at least 6 in each part), or TOEFL 100 (IBT), or equivalent.

Facilities

We're connected to Sheffield’s Charles Clifford Dental Hospital, part of the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. You'll complete your clinical training in the hospital.

Our links with the hospital give you access to modern clinical facilities and equipment. There are 150 dental units with facilities for treatment under sedation, a well-equipped dental radiography department, oral pathology laboratories and a hospital dental production laboratory.

We also have purpose-built research and service laboratories and equipment. There’s a core facility for cell and tissue culture and labs for microbiology, electron microscopy, histology, histochemistry and immuno-cytochemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, proteomics and materials science.
