Multilingual Information Management - MA

Our innovative courses focus on how to work in multilingual workplaces, improve communications and overcome language barriers. You’ll develop strong academic and professional skills by studying theory, practice and professional development.

About the course

1 year full time/2 years part time

You'll develop language skills and cultural awareness, along with strong technical skills in web content management, electronic publishing and usability.

Employers will be attracted by your abilities in project management, and knowledge of new media marketing. This course is taught by two departments – the School of Modern Languages and the Information School.

Entry requirements

At least a 2:1 or equivalent in any subject discipline. You must also have an advanced working knowledge of two languages, one of which should be English.

English language requirements for overseas students

IELTS 7 (with at least 6.5 in each component), or TOEFL 100 (iBT), or equivalent.

Our facilities

You'll be based in our brand new specially designed building which offers modern learning, teaching and research spaces. We’re right next to other arts and humanities departments, creating opportunities for the crossover of ideas.

Our self-access centre for independent study has all the tools you’ll need. Use our extensive collection of print, audio and video resources, an audio-visual room that receives over 70 European and Middle Eastern television channels and two computer-assisted language learning laboratories.

To help you maintain or develop speaking and listening proficiency in English, French, German, Italian or Spanish, you can work in tandem with a native speaker to practise. Our Modern Languages Teaching Centre provides language services and teaching across the University to specialists and non-specialists.
