Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds PhD Fellowships
The Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds is a public foundation based in Germany that promotes basic research in biomedicine. It offers 2-3 year PhD Fellowships to outstanding young scientists, of any nationality, who wish to pursue an ambitious PhD project in an internationally leading laboratory in Europe.
Award details
A Fellowship provides a monthly maintenance stipend of 2,000 Euros. Participation at international scientific conferences is also supported. In addition, fellowship holders are offered personal support, seminars to discuss their projects, communication training and alumni meetings.
Awards are initially tenable for two years and can be extended for up to another 12 months.
Eligibility
Eligibility is determined by the Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds eligibility criteria as set out on their website. Applicants should review this guidance in the first instance.
The general eligibility requirements are:
- Applicants should have, or expect to achieve, a first or upper second class UK honours degree or equivalent qualifications gained outside the UK in an appropriate area of study.
- Applicants should be registering on their first year of study with the University for 2012-13 on an eligible full-time programme of doctoral study. The PhD project must be experimental, in the field of basic biomedical research and aimed at elucidating basic biological phenomena of human life and acquiring new scientific knowledge.
- Applicants should not be older than 27 years on the respective deadline.
- Awards are open to UK, EU and international applicants.
