AHRC Scholarships

The Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) supports world-class research that furthers our understanding of human culture and creativity. The University of Sheffield has been awarded substantial AHRC funding for postgraduate research scholarships across the Arts & Humanities and Social Sciences.

The University of Sheffield offers three types of AHRC award:

Award details

The type of AHRC scholarship awarded is based on an applicant's residency status. UK applicants and EU applicants who have been resident in the UK for at least 3 years immediately preceding the start of their course are eligible for the full scholarship. This pays:

EU applicants that have not been resident in the UK for 3 years immediately preceding the start of their course are eligible for a fees-only award, paying the standard UK/EU tuition fees only.

International applicants are not eligible for AHRC funding.

Awards for doctoral study are tenable for a maximum of three years full-time and five years part-time subject to satisfactory progress. Awards for Masters study are tenable for between 9-12 months full-time and 12-24 months part-time.

Applications for AHRC Doctoral scholarships for 2012-13 entry are now closed. Applications are being reviewed and applicants will be informed if they have been successful by the end of April at the latest.

Masters candidates:

Applications for AHRC Masters scholarships for 2012-13 entry are now open. Please see the Masters Scholarships Application Process page for details. Closing date: 30 March 2012.
