Teaching
|
I teach modules relating to contemporary and classical debates in political theory as well as modules that intersect with key themes in global ethics / international law. These modules are directly informed by my research and professional experience; which encompasses law, jurisprudence, global health, global governance, justice, and issues of globalization. I am particularly interested in relating the importance of normative theory to contemporary human concerns and with drawing attention to the global scope of applied political and legal philosophy. I currently teach in four departments (Law, Philosophy, Politics and the School of Health Related Research) and stress the interdisciplinary relevance of political theory. I have a simple teaching philosophy – I treat my students as intellectuals who have interesting and insightful ideas to bring to the debate. As a result, more times than not, my students rise to the intellectual challenges of normative debate and engage with these debates with vigour and sophistication. I have been awarded five teaching prizes during my career as a teacher, which reflects my dedication to fostering the intellectual, personal and professional development of my students.
