Thesis Title: The Role of Europeanisation in the Transformation of the Nation State and Its Impact on the National Identities: Poland as Case Study

Start Year: 2010

Supervisors

Simon Bulmer

Ian Bache

Research Topic

My research focuses on the transformative impact of Europeanisation on national identities. My research also aims to distinguish between the transformative impacts of EU-ization and Europeanisation. These two concepts (Europeanisation and EU-ization) often overlap. There is no consensus on the definition of these processes in the literature. Some scholars consider Europeanisation as a historical process which started centuries ago while some others take the EU as a starting point. In my research, Europeanisation and EU-ization will clearly be distinguished and their impacts on national identities will be compared.
