International Politics and Security Studies

About the course

The single honours degree in International Politics and Security Studies will develop an understanding of theories and concepts of peace, conflict and security and their application to local, national, regional and global; the nature and significance of politics, security and co-operation as local, national, regional and global activities; the origins and evolution of the international political and security system, including contemporary challenges; changing definitions and understandings of, human security, different interpretations of world political and security events and issues from a variety of perspectives.

The department's aim is to give students an in-depth understandng of politics and political issues, supported by a range of personal transferable skills, including communication and presentation skills, working in groups, writing reports and essays, gathering information and planning projects.
