BA International History and International Politics
This is a three-year programme based in the Department of History and taught jointly by the Departments of History and Politics. It provides a comparative and international perspective on the world, offering courses on Europe, Africa, South and East Asia, Australasia and the Pacific. The impact of both imperialism and decolonisation is emphasised. Influential movements and world-views and their origins are also explained.
Although the main focus of the degree is modern history and politics, the flexible structure of the degree enables you to choose courses from earlier periods. Our inter-disciplinary curriculum helps you to understand the history and politics of a wide range of different periods and regions of the world. Our students gain a range of personal transferable skills, including communication and presentation skills, working in groups, writing reports and essays, gathering information and planning projects.
